Blog 14 - Monday, November 6, 2017

Thanks for allowing me to present my project to you last Friday.
As you could see, digital citizenship is pretty important for me.

Being a good digital citizen includes:
- being aware of your digital footprints;
- demonstrating safe and respectful online etiquette;
- not cyber-bullying, sexting, or posting inappropriate photos and/or videos,
- making important decisions about what to post to social media sites; and,
- not downloading or uploading inappropriate content

For this blog, I would like you to CREATE an important Digital Citizenship message using MEMES!

A meme in a generic message about a behaviour that is passed around on-line.

Using makeameme.org, create a MEME about being a GOOD Digital Citizen.  On the blog site, write an explanation about the meme you've created.  Explain why you've chosen that image? Explain the text on your meme!  How is your meme effective?

TURNING IT IN: You need to PRINT your MEME.

  1. I wrote this meme because once you post something online, you can never actually make it completely private again. Same thing with “private” group chats. Anyone in it could screenshot it and post it online. I chose that image because the face the cat makes kinda represents a face you would make if you found out you posted something you weren’t supposed to post. My text on the meme just explains that you should always think twice before you post something.

  2. I created a meme about digital citizenship. My meme is very important because it tells you not to share your information, or else you’ll get in big trouble. The meme that i created is not very unique, but a lot of people still make this mistake. Many people still give their information to unknown people, then end up in big trouble. My meme warns people by saying, if you give out your information, you’ll never know what can happen or who ends up with it. For example, if people pretend to be a person from your bank, asking for your credit card password, and you give it to them, you’ll never know what they will do with it. They can use your card and buy drugs or even go on vacation… You have to be very aware, because anyone these days can pretend to be someone who they aren’t.

    6. but sometimes you can trust other people, Rarely but sometimes. Some people underestimate what people can do. After a while some people will tell you things, such as their age, where they live, etc. Most of the time they are lying.

  3. I wrote this meme because once you post something online, you can never actually gets taken off. My meme is very important because it tells that stuff on the internet never actually deletes. My meme warns people by saying, if you post something or talk about people it could always be there. You have to be very aware, to think if you should actually put stuff on the internet.

  4. For my meme, it said “when people think it’s funny to cyberbully” and the picture was a man who seemed confused. I chose it because there are actually some people online who think that it’s ok, or funny to hurt others feelings. They don’t see how rude they’re actually being, and that what they’re doing is not okay at all. And the picture is someone who looks confused, and I chose it because I don’t understand how some people think it’s funny to hurt others.

  5. So my meme was a picture of a man pointing his finger at us saying “Do not post of photo of them if you do not have their parents permission”. Which is something my art teacher, Mr. Allali frequently says to us. I think making sure to have your friends parents permission before posting a picture of your friends. Sometimes your friend might be ok with you posting a photo of them but their parents might not be. I think my meme will be effective because people will think of when Mr. Allali said it so they will remember not to post the picture.

  6. For my meme I had thought for the traditional:
    “Why’d I post that, I’m so stupid”
    It’s pretty logical, but as many times as people see that they still don’t apply it to their daily lives. It is so so so important to understand that group of five words. The picture I chose was a squirrel I’m pretty sure at least. It is surprised, scared and confused. #Don’tpostit

  7. The meme I chose/taught of is "Your digital footprint never washes away" and then the background is a beach with footprints in the sand. I chose this one because whenever you post a picture or comment or message everyone/ many people have access to see it. If it's on a group chat or private message anyone can easily just screenshot it and post it or show someone else. If it's on a private account there are still people that can see it and if it does get shown around on the internet whenever you search up that /your name that comment, message or picture will come up.

  8. The meme I created is about how you may end up regretting what you have posted, especially if the post suddenly goes viral and ends up being viewed or shared by a whole bunch of people. When you post something that goes viral you cannot delete it from the internet because it ends up on other people's websites that one does not have access to.

  10. The meme that I created says "Do I really want to post that?!?" because I feel that a lot of people do not think about what they are posting. They get caught up in the moment and press enter without thinking. We should really think about what we are about to post because if it is something embarrasing it’ll be there forever even if you try to erase it. It’s a question that we should be asking ourselves everytime we are about to press the enter/send key.

  11. I chose a picture of a confused baby and it said "Are you sure you want to post that?" I chose these because it represents the fact that you should always double or triple check what you are posting before you post it. What I mean by this is that you should check if your picture is appropriate. Another way to check if you should really post the picture is to think, if you were having a family dinner with all of your relatives, would you show them the picture? How would they react? My meme is effective because it shows people that, like I said before, you should always double or triple check your work.

  13. My meme is about how you should always think before posting some stupid thing like nudes or racist comments, and other reasons why you should always think before posting is, that it will never be deleted no matter what you try to do, what you post always remains on the internet and you can almost delete all of it but, if it go's viral you have a 0% chance of getting that pic or comment even remotely close to getting deleted of the internet.

  14. The meme that I chose, was Sponge Bob making a rainbow with his hands saying: “Being a good digital citizen makes the world a happier place”. I chose this one because many people forget what being a good digital citizen means. Some people even start drama by posting something mean about someone else (bad hair, an insult, or even…when a person looked ugly in a picture that someone took and decided to post it and secretly make fun of them online). I can go on and on with things that people do these days. Take this advice.
    BE A GOOD DIGITAL CITIZEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    For people who want to see this meme.

    My meme is partially traditional surprised reaction from an inappropriate post. A thing to try if you want to certify if your post is appropriate, say this to yourself, if I would post this would it offend anyone? if yes try change or completely delete it. if you have trouble determinating this you should ask someone else to judge it for/with you.

  16. I made this meme because I think it represents what the world is like. If you are exposed as a bad digital citizen then you will get put in a virtual wall where no one wants to talk to you. Also with Donald Trump I think it's a humorous way of getting a point out. One of my friends was bullied online and my friend changed schools, it's not nice and the person lot all their respect for doing it. Thanks for listening!

    1. The meme I made represents when you or someone posts something rude on the internet. Obviously your first reaction in both situations is you either feel guilty or disappointed. My meme is Minor Mistake Marvin. Minor Mistake Marvin is a little boy looking off in the distance after he realized he messed up. The reason I chose this meme was because it reminded me of the time my friend once put a rude post on his Instagram making fun of one of his fellow classmates. It was disappointing that my friend would post something like that. I had the same reaction as Marvin. Hopefully you enjoyed reading about my meme.

  17. The meme I created is a cat trying to hide himself with a caption saying "this cat just posted an embarrassing pic of himself...Don't be this cat". https://imgflip.com/i/1z20bp My meme represents what teenagers are doing to get any kind of attention; positive or negative. Teenagers should not post embarrassing pictures or pictures they will regret posting for attention. It can attract the wrong people to their page and cause problems. My meme is effective because it shows people that you will probably regret posting the embarrassing picture that you can erase and that you need to be careful of what you post and the intention of your post.

  18. my meme is (excuse me sir did you post that you cant take it down now)i got my inspiration from a teacher but seriously i made this because a load of the things that you post can come back later and mess you up what if you had a job interview and they find the pic of you at the party and they don't choose you because of that.

  19. Digital citizenship

    For my meme I put a grandma looking at a computer screen and she is completely shocked by what she is seeing. I chose this meme because a lot of people post inappropriate photos on the internet and they don't realize that what they are doing is wrong or can get them in trouble. Whenever I think about digital citizenship some how it always comes back to the same problem of your pictures never being privet. People think no one else except the person they send it to will see it but they could easily take pictures. Later on they realize oh I probably shouldn't have posted or sen that but normally it is already too late if you're lucky nothing has happened yet but there is a very slim chance that will happen. That's why you should always think about if you should post it or not before you do it not after.

    1. So true! Many people don't realize that once a picture or a comment is posted or sent on line it is there forever. Even if you change your mind and delete it, it is never really gone and the damage has been done.

  20. The meme I created is one with Trump making an angry face and pointing his finger while he is saying, “If you cyber bully on line, I will build a digital wall in your WIFI”. I am playing with the fact that everyone has heard about how President Trump wants to build a wall to keep illegal Mexican immigrants out. In this case, he is being a good digital citizen and using his position of power to create a wall to keep cyber bullies out. The ironic part is that many people consider President Trump to be a bully and at times even a cyber bully, on his twitter account. However, he is still the President of the United States and he is looked up to by many so this image could be effective since it is the President requesting an end to cyberbullying. #cyberbullyingisnotcool

  21. For my meme I used the “skeptical baby” meme and it says “did you seriously post that? Even I’m smart enough to know that was a bad decision”. I wrote that on my meme because i think that if a baby were to see something you said online would you be ok with them seeing it or would their parent get mad at you for exposing their child to whatever it is you posted.
