Blog 52 - Monday, May 7, 2018

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week! No school Friday!

Your BLOG topic is FREE CHOICE!  You could blog about whatever it is you want, except what you've already blogged about!  You could go on a rant or you could simply blog about something important to you.

Be creative and write about something you feel important or something you would like to tell your audience. Write about something you are passionate about. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!!

You must remember your audience.  It is not simply me (Mr. Katz) reading this blog!
If you will be ranting about a certain individual, you need to leave their name out of this.  You could give them a pseudonym (example: Mr. Ed) or simply leave their name as anonymous.
Make sure your language is appropriate.  Do not go on swearing tangents and try not to blog about blogs :)

  1. Im gonna blog about why we shouldn't have free choice blogs and its because mot of the time Im staring at the screen thinking about to blog about then i check other blogs to find out what others are doing so to think i might blog about the same thing as the others are thats why i think this shouldn't happen by the way this is my blog

    5. Great blog, but I do not agree. I think that we should have the option to chose about what we write every once in a while.

  2. I'm going to blog about my very first carnival day at St-Thomas. I found that this event was very fun since you got to miss half the day and got to eat hot dogs!!! There was also a lot of fun activities like bouncy castles and basketball and hitting people with pool noodles. We also got to play activities with the teachers like throwing a ball at a target to make them fall in water.

  3. I want to become a Computer Scientist, creating programs and AIs. I am currently attempting to learn math which could greatly help this. Such as calculus, algebra and definite/infinite variables. I am hoping to be able in a few years to be good with computers and programming. I was thinking of using Brilliant.org and it might help me with this goal. The AIs would be hard to make, you have to create a neural network with code which can grow and modify itself but not as hard as you think, after years of practice I could create something human-like but the AIs would be mainly for games and other things.

  4. Today I'm going to blog about the spelling of other peoples blogs. This is an english class blog so we should be spelling properly or even just enough for us to understand what it's supposed to be about how you feel and we should be able to relate to it. But we are not able to relate if we can't understand it. For example Sadam's blog: the spelling is atrocious and I was barely able to read it. But A for effort. Thanks for reading.

  5. Today my blog will be about standardized testing. I don't believe that standardized testing can truly show the mental capacity of a student. These are a few reasons that these forms of evaluation should no longer be used: Because students know that test scores may affect their future lives, they do whatever they can to pass them, including cheating and taking performance drugs. Because teachers know that test scores may affect their salaries and job security, they also cheat.
Standardized tests don’t provide any feedback on how to perform better. Standardized tests don’t value creativity. A student who writes a more creative answer in the margins of a test, doesn’t realize that a human being won’t even see this creative response. This student will never get the chance to prove themselves as an individual. Standardized tests reduce the richness of human experience and human learning to a number or set of numbers. There are many other reasons but those are some main points. I think that standardized tests were invented to prepare for working in factories back in the 20th century. These tests no longer apply in this day and age. Our classrooms should be evolving and changing along with the rest of this world.

    1. Do you know Math is easily can be more fun than Art! It is just that teachers don't teach it well and don't test it well. Like I was saying in my blog, Brilliant.org explains difficult concepts nicely and does it better than most classes. And Sorry For Mentioning A Link In My Blog...

  6. Today I will be blogging about carnival day yesterday. The Carnival was super fun and there was so many different activities and different food! :) My favorite activity was the bungee run since I have always wanted to try it. Yesterday was my first carnival and it was so fun that I do not think any other year can be better. My favorite food that they included into the carnival was the snow cones.

  7. For this free blog, I will be writing about my first carnival here at St. Thomas! Overall, the whole experience was super fun. We got to miss half a day of school just to have fun. It was a great time to hang out with your friends and have some quality time together. The food were really good and there were many things to choose from. I also really like how all the money that they get will go to the Haiti Partage. There were many things to do like the bouncy castles, volleyball games, etc.

  8. For this free blog. I will be writing about the time I went to India. I went to India in December of 2016/17. I went for a month. It wasn't enough time since we were out visiting people all day and all we wanted to do was stay at home and relax. We were out visiting people since we hadn't been there for 10 years! So we were visiting people all day everyday. It was really sad when we left because we loved it there. But also, we didn't want to leave because both my grandparents on my mom's side have cancer. First it was my grandpa and now its my grandma. So it was sad to leave. But overall it was a lot of fun.

  9. I’m going to blog about my summer plans. This summer I’m going to go to sleep away camp for the fourth time for three weeks in July. It is really fun every year to see your friends you have missed for 11 month. Many other people that go to this sleep away camp come from Barcelona and even Thailand. This is my favourite part about this sleep away camp, since it is really intresting learning how others live in different contries and have certain opinions on topics. For example one of my friends at sleep away camp was a Russian homophobic.

  10. I can't wait for summer to arrive so that I can enjoy some relaxation time. We need it lol! I mean it's been non stop projects and tests. My family and I are looking into going to Europe this year. This should be a lot of fun as it will be my first time there. I'll be visiting many regions in Italy - Rome, Venice, Pompei, Naples. I hear it's beautiful there. I have lots of family I will meet for the first time. This will be my best summer ever!

  11. For this blog, I am going to write about my upcoming road trip to Atlanta, Georgia. I am going there to see my cousins. It is an estimate of an 18-hour drive, but we are going to take a couple of days to get there. We are going to see New York, Washington, Philadelphia, and much more. I am excited to go see all the beaches and do other fun activities. I am also really excited to see my cousins because I don't see them really often.

  12. Todayyyyyyy I would like to talk about the current show that I am watching. Surprisingly, this show is pretty educational. It talks about a forensic anthropologist and her partner in the FBI solving murder cases with their team at the Jeffersonian. This show has 12 different seasons with 12 to 26 episodes in them. This show is really good for people who like a filler show.

  13. i am going to blog about lemons. They are yellow (which is a great color) and it has a perfect amount of sourness. Speaking of sourness i really like sour things like warheads. One day i ate a whole package in 20 minutes. It hurt a lot after but it was great. Back to lemons, They come in all different sizes and they have a nice, zesty flavor to them. Hope you liked my blog!

  14. For my free blog, I will be writing about my first time going to Parc Safari as a child when I was about 4 years old. For those who don’t know what it is, Parc Safari is a zoo/amusement park not too far from here. In the park, you can go through a safari of animals with your car. You can open the doors and windows and the animals stick their heads. When my parents told me that we could open the doors to touch the animals, I got really excited so I opened the doors right away, but we were in the middle of the road. Everyone in the car was screaming at me, but I didn’t understand why because I just wanted to touch the animals. Then my mom finally told me that I could open the doors when we actually arrived at Parc Safari. It was a fun trip.

  15. This week’s blog is a free choice, I will be talking to you about what I will be doing this summer. This summer, I will be spending a lot of time with my friends, and going to the pool. I swim at a summer pool, Westminster, with Gabriel. I’ve been a competitive swimmer, since I was 4 years old. I’ll also be going to Myrtle Beach this summer, i’m pretty sure with my family friends.

  16. For my free blog, I’m going to blog about the importance of art in the world. Without any form of art, the world would be boring. Imagine a world where you couldn’t listen to music, watch a movie or take an image... Art gives the world color and life. It brings us together as it is a universal language. It can help people understand how you are feeling without even saying it. As Demetri Martin says “Earth without art is eh”.

  17. For my blog today I am going to talk about how much I want a pet, preferably a puppy. I think I have my mom convinced but the person who still needs convincing is my dad. The funny thing is both my parents had pets growing up. My mom had a cat and my dad had a dog and both say that having a pet was the best thing ever. My dad keeps saying that having a dog is a big responsibility and that what will probably happen is that my mom will be the one to walk, wash, feed, etc. the dog. My mom is more concerned about the hair all over the house as well as the scratches on the wooden floors and the furniture. She also says that the day they had to put her cat to sleep because she was too sick with cancer and was suffering, was one of the worst days of her life. I think if I had a pet I would have a best friend for life so I really hope I can convince my parents to get me one. #Iwantapuppyplease
